The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake

Posted by on March 4, 2017

We were lucky enough to experience a beautiful, crisp fall day when we arrived at the Lodge at Geneva on the Lake. With breathtaking views of the southern shores of Lake Erie near Geneva State Park in the heart of the beautiful Ohio Wine Country, what began as the Buckeye State’s first summer resort town is now a very popular, four season star among vacation destinations, Geneva-on-the-Lake is set in Northeast Ohio’s most attractive countryside. The Lodge has plenty to offer families, from romantic escapes, family fun, celebrations, and much more.

Whether you enjoy skiing the lakefront trail, savoring the flavors of wine country or exploring Geneva State Park – The Lodge at Geneva serves signature experiences all year long.

There are plenty of ducks for the duck lovers in your family.

It was quiet, with not many guests checked in during our off season fall visit. With plenty of activities, the resort is much busier during the warm spring and summer months.

The Lodge at Geneva is renowned for great guest experiences and a relaxing resort atmosphere. The Cottages at The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake offer all the amenities and features of The Lodge – with a new level of privacy and exclusivity for guests to enjoy the Lake in every season.

The Cottages with kitchens and extra bedrooms are great places to stay and are located just to the east of The Lodge, next to the playground and paved bike trail entrance.  Cottage guests enjoy all Lodge amenities and can swim, enjoy the hiking trails, and eat at the restaurants. From candlelit dinners with views of Lake Erie, to quick bites poolside, The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake has tables ready and waiting. The pinnacle of The Lodge at Geneva dining experience is Horizons Restaurant & Lounge.

In warmer weather enjoy beautiful views of Lake Erie outdoors on our patio. Each relaxing setting offers great menus featuring local and seasonal specialties and flavors, great lists of local Ohio wine, and live entertainment in the Lounge on weekends.

The lakeside bike trail loops around the Cottages, lush green lawns and beautiful landscaping.  Communal fire pits blaze each evening to give guests a new place to gather and share good times and conversation. Designed with keen attention to detail and built to green-certified, Energy Star eco-standards,
cottages all feature panoramic, picture window views. Covered porches and gas fireplaces with flat screen TVs mounted above are fun focal points for engaging with family and friends. Each spacious Cottage features two bedrooms, living room with foldout sofa, kitchenette with mini refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher and can accommodate up to 6 guests. Handicap accessible accommodations are also available.

We came in with all our luggage to check in at the Lodge and were immediately impressed with the luxurious lobby and the wonderful accommodations.
The Lodge is conveniently located near an outstanding and exciting collection of Ohio activities and events including golf, boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming and more.
Cruise The Lodge at Geneva’s wine shuttle, take a family bike ride or enjoy the events next door at Geneva-on-the-Lake. In the colder months, glide over the cross-country skiing tracks along the Lake Erie shore or take a snowshoe hike – it’s easy, fun and a great way to relax and reset. We were interested in the wine shuttle, which runs every day but didn’t  have time to partake during our short visit. Maybe next time! There are plenty of both indoor and outdoor activities at the resort, you can check them out here.
After dropping off our luggage and other belongings in our room, we set out with our camera and a goal to see the area and take some photos. First, we strolled down to the quiet and beautiful beach. What a great place to relax and have a ball during the warmer months!

We spent a couple of hours just exploring the whole resort property, then headed back to the restaurants to enjoy lunch before we decided what to do for the afternoon. What a great place! Now, what should we do tomorrow??
