Never Gonna Let You Go – 7a Crescent Royale Condos, Siesta Key

It was the porch that we fell in love with.

Everything from the state-of-the-art kitchen to the two full master bedrooms to the proximity of the powder soft sand of the beach on Siesta Key at 7a Crescent Royal Condos was completely fabulous in every way but the porch.

The porch.

The porch has glass sliding doors by the screens that allow you to control the use of the area as the doors can be open to let in the tropical breezes or closed allowing the lanai to be opened to the living room area to expand the air-conditioned living area. It was quite simply marvelous and we loved it.

The Crescent Royale Condominiums are located on Siesta Key, which is one of the many keys or barrier islands which are part of Sarasota, Florida. Cross the bridge to Siesta Key and you enter a completely charming area with local shops, wonderful restaurants, and plenty of beach houses, cottages, and condos. The complex is located across the street from the beach but it’s not a busy road and it’s a quick walk over to the public beach area. The lovely white sand of Siesta Key was named #1 by Dr. Beach in 2011 and it’s easy to see why when you stroll along the soft white sand and enjoy the beautiful blue-green Gulf lapping the shore. The public beach has a nice playground, picnic areas, and tennis and beach volleyball courts. Watersports abound in this sanctuary from winter. Sarasota is below the frost line of the United States so even in February when we visited it was warm and lovely. Scuba diving, boating, parasailing, jet skiing, and sailing – all are available in the area, although just relaxing on the beach is always an option!

The complex has a very nice pool and a shuffleboard court, and there is also a pool table in the lounge and area for games and cards. The exercise room has cardio workout equipment and weights with adjoining bathrooms with showers and sauna. A banquet room above the lounge has a fully equipped kitchen, is handicap accessible and can be rented for meetings or social events.  There are one, two, three or four bedroom units, all a view of the Gulf of Mexico, and all with a porch or lanai as it is called in Florida. The porch is the perfect place to watch the spectacular Florida sunsets. There is an elevator and even laundry facilities on each floor, although 7a has its own washer and dryer.

We were in unit 7a which is truly one of the nicest condos in the complex. It is a newly remodeled developers double wide four bedroom three and half bath penthouse unit with over 2,000 square feet. Seriously. 2,000 square feet is bigger than my first home! We could not believe how large and roomy it was and were amazed that so much time and trouble had been taken in remodeling and decorating this condo. Located on the seventh floor, it had panoramic views of the beach and we spent hours just sitting there enjoying the view. With three women traveling together, the other two had to flip a coin to see who got the second master bedroom – as the resident travel writer of the group who arranges our accommodations, I automatically get the nicest room! Both of the master bedrooms are large with huge bathrooms – the one I was in truly had the biggest shower I have ever seen.

This is the perfect condo for a family, a group of friends, or for entertaining. The kitchen has top of the line Viking appliances and the first sub-zero refrigerator I have even seen in a rental condo. Beautiful, custom-made cherry cabinets, granite tops, a cooking island, and an entertainment island are available and we pulled up stools to the island often to eat snacks and just talk. This condo also has a washer and dryer, 4 flat screen TV’s, wireless internet, and music throughout the condo. It was obvious that the owner of this condo also uses it as the furnishings were much nicer than anything we had experienced in all our years of beach visits. With two leather couches and plenty of chairs, we were all comfortable in the evenings watching television. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers were all available for our use in a storage room by the elevator – a really nice amenity that is not often available in rental condos or houses.

Siesta Key has plenty of great little shops and restaurants as we discovered when we went exploring one afternoon. We piled all our shopping bags full of goodies in the car, then spent an evening having a delicious meal at Café Gabbiano in the Village. If you go, be sure to try the lobster ravioli as it was wonderful! We also spent a very nice afternoon on the pretty beach on Lido Key and had a wonderful dinner at the Tommy Bahama restaurant there. Relax in this beautifully decorated restaurant, enjoy the great service, and try the coconut shrimp appetizer and the parmesan chicken dinner – you won’t be sorry!

But truly the best part of every day was returning to our lovely condo.

This was our first visit to Sarasota and the Crescent Royals Condos made us realize we need to return for another visit soon.

I can only hope we luck into a condo half as nice as 7a Crescent Royale!

Full disclosure: Our stay was provided by Crescent Royale Condos but as always, we will share my honest opinions about any travel experiences we have.
