That.

That right up there may have been one of the best things about our stay at the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort and Spa.

Those are shrimp and lobster tacos.

And they were just as good as they look.

We had them one night out on the patio of Chandler’s, the restaurant at the hotel. When we discovered they had a happy hour from 4:30 – 6:30 every day which offered “small bites” – specially priced appetizers – we decided that was our best bet for a light dinner. The appetizers had to be consumed on the patio and we were absolutely fine with that as it was a lovely afternoon and we could see the ocean from where we sat.

One of the best and the worst things about our trip to Carlsbad last spring was that during our five days in the lovely village, we stayed at four different locations. It was a pain because we would just settle in and we would have to pack up and leave. But it was also great because we stayed in four completely different locations.

And, lucky for us, the Hilton was one of them.

The Hilton was the only one of the four where we could actually, clearly see the ocean from our window and this, next to the tacos, was probably our favorite thing about the hotel.

The hotel is very nice, very new, and has a really beautiful, modern lobby.

Tom was amazed at the fact that they had Apple computers in their business center – this is pretty unusual. The computers were available for anyone to use and this can come in handy if you don’t have your computer with you. It’s nice to be able to print boarding passes, for example.

The hotel offers valet parking but they also have a free parking structure across the street, which we used. There is a 24-hour fitness center, a complimentary shuttle to Carlsbad village, complimentary newspapers delivered to your room, and complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby every morning. The Ocean Crest spa is a full service spa located in the hotel.

The rooms are lovely, with free Wi-Fi (which we LOVE), a big flat screen television, and a fridge and microwave, which are great for families. Some of the rooms have balconies and they also offer expansive suites with living and dining areas. After we checked in and before we scarfed down the delicious tacos, we took a stroll around the property.

There is a beautiful, zero entry pool which is perfect for families with kids and a couple of fire pits which were lit later on and we saw families enjoying them.

We really enjoyed everything about our one night at the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort and Spa.

Especially those tacos.

Full disclosure: the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort and Spa provided us with our stay,  but as always, I will share my honest opinion about any travel experiences I have.
