Burgers and Shakes and Fries, Oh My! Visiting Holsteins in Vegas For The First Time.

Posted by on April 28, 2011

Holsteins (Cosmopolitan) on Urbanspoon

It wasn’t until after we had both taken a huge bite of our completely delicious burgers that I realized I should take a picture so we could show you how truly delicious they were. So, here. DELICIOUS burger. With only one bite out it. Hey, you’re lucky we managed to stop there.

You are saying Yum right now, aren’t you?

If you want to experience the same deliciousness, you need to pop in to Holsteins Burgers and Shakes in the Cosmopolitan on Las Vegas Boulevard for lunch or dinner. From the Paris Hotel and Casino where we were staying, the Cosmopolitan was an easy walk, so we headed there for lunch on our first day in Vegas. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name but thought burgers, fries, shakes – how could we go wrong? You won’t go wrong if you eat here.

In fact, you couldn’t go MORE RIGHT.

The kitschy vibe of Holsteins begins at the entrance with a large pink and white cow to symbolize the delicious burgers you are soon going to experience.

Yes. That is a pink plastic cow.

After being seated, our friendly waiter insisted that we simply MUST try the Truffle Lobster Mac and Cheese as an appetizer. We hadn’t planned on an appetizer but he was so vehement that we would LOVE it that we went on and ordered it.

We were easily persuaded because Lobster + Mac and Cheese? Seriously, how could you go wrong? And then we proceeded to have one of the most delicious dishes of ALL TIME. Creamy and delicious with a delicately crunchy truffle crust, it was so indescribably good that we ordered it two more times at different restaurants and my friends? Don’t waste your time. You want the Lobster Mac and Cheese from Holsteins. Don’t even order it anywhere else because you will just be crushingly disappointed.

Truffle Lobster Mac and Cheese. Accept no substitutes.

The only problem was that we had one appetizer for the two of us and there may have been a small amount of fighting over the fork.

It was strongly reminiscent of the time my husband ordered a scallops sampler in Puerto Vallarta that was TO DIE FOR. He was moaning so loud in ecstasy over those scallops that I reached over with my fork to try a bite and accidentally took a whole creamy, cheesy scallop. Laughing, I said “I didn’t mean to take a whole scallop!” And he looked at me in all seriousness, frowned menacingly and said “Well you DID.” He was not happy. Thank God it was an all-inclusive resort and we could order another appetizer because I shudder to think what would have happened if I had tried for another bite.

Same thing with the Lobster Mac and Cheese at Holsteins. Seriously. If you are in Vegas, go there and order it IMMEDIATELY. And then?

Order the burgers and fries and marvel at the fact that McDonald’s also provides something called burgers and fries and they are not REMOTELY like these.

SO. GOOD.

We both ordered the “Gold Standard” burger – you can read the description on the menu HERE and yes, I SEE YOU DROOLING.
But we were not finished with the fabulousness.

We had to try the milkshakes.

You might possibly think you have had a good milkshake. You might have had a really, really good hand-dipped milkshake with homemade ice cream prepared by little milkshake fairies who spend all their time making milkshakes. You might have done this and you would STILL have not had as good a milkshake as we had at Holsteins.

Vanilla Ice Cream. Oreos. Bailey’s Irish Cream. O.M.G.

My husband had some masterful concoction called an “Oreo” with Bailey’s Irish Cream and chocolate (you can get them alcoholic or non, whichever you prefer) and mine was a lovely, lovely blend of chocolate and mint called a “Frozen Grasshopper” that was vaguely reminiscent of a mint Girl Scout Cookie only about 5,931 times better.

Our only regret at Holsteins was that we had neither the time nor the capacity to try every single thing on the menu because I can pretty much guarantee you that they would be delicious.

Why don’t you try them?

And then let me know.

Because I think it might be a really good idea to work my way through that ENTIRE milkshake menu.

One shake at a time.

Holsteins is located in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Full disclosure: Holsteins provided us with a free meal, but as always, I will share my honest opinion about any travel experiences I have.
