Blog Focus
I write about destinations, tours, boutique and luxury accommodations, cruising, and gourmet restaurants.
Press and Social Media Trips
If you are interested in organizing a Press Trip, looking for online PR with a social media slant, or interested in working together on my print travel magazine columns, I would love to talk to you. I am open to hosted travel and will write about my experiences but I will be honest, fair and professional in what I write. The posts on Wanderlustwonder will be labeled as sponsored posts.
What I can do for you:
- Full coverage of the trip on my travel blog, which means a minimum of one post about each day (usually many more) which would include different aspects of the trip, such as food, accommodations, tours, etc. My blog is experiential, so I visit and experience everything I write about.
- Live-blogging my experiences during the trip, if Internet access permits. These posts are designed to create current interest and are in addition to the more detailed posts I will write on my return. Here is an example of a post I wrote while cruising with Norwegian Cruise Lines.
- Articles on other blogs for which I write, including, but not limited to SavvyGal, See Jane Fly, A Luxury Travel Blog, and Travelhoppers.
- A review of any accommodations where I have stayed during the trip on Examiner.com.
- Reviews of restaurants visited on Urbanspoon.
- Twitter: During my visit, I regularly tweet @janross53 about the interesting things I see and do to build interest and excitement about the trip. I also use Twitter to promote blog posts and build readership.
- Stumbleupon: I use Stumbleupon to stumble each post in order to promote the posts and build readership.
- Content for tourism boards, companies, etc. I am happy to share my articles and have them appear on your website, blog, newsletter, etc.
- Magazines: I write a travel column for two magazines, “Living Well 50 Plus” and “Ky Doc”. Combined, readers number over 85,000 and these are individuals who are very interested in travel. I have also written for other print magazines, including “Nevada” magazine and “Senior Living” magazine in Vancouver. I may be able to place articles in other print magazines about my experiences.
Case Study – Las Vegas Tourism Board: Visit Las Vegas
I worked with Visit Las Vegas for a trip to the area in May, 2010 for a magazine assignment for “Nevada” magazine on an article about Vegas for non-gamblers – what to do in Vegas if you were not interested in gambling. They worked with me to put me in contact with area hotels, restaurants and attractions. Here’s a sample of what I did in return.
During our stay, I wrote several posts:
Vegas Virgins
Visiting Holsteins
When I returned home, I wrote several most posts on my travel blog:
The Incredible Hotels of Vegas
Hoover Dam
A blog post on A Luxury Travel Blog:
The Capital Grille
A magazine article in “Living Well Plus 50″
Vegas for Non-Gamblers
A magazine article for “Nevada” magazine which will appear in January, 2011.
Case study - Accommodation reviews
Below you’ll find some links to examples of accommodation reviews, both on my own travel blog and for other online and print venues.
A Luxury Travel Blog: Henderson Park Inn, Destin Florida
“Ky Doc” magazine: Dromoland Castle, Ireland
